The Blindfold

There once was a child

alone on this planet.

(Alone in one’s mind

can become a habit.)

Secretly observing,

forging assumptions,

categorizing

with inherited instructions.

Without eyes how does one

recognize

affluency or complexion?

How to know where one fits in,

what is the form of

detection?

Eyes closed and

heart opened

wide,

this child explored

the world

untied.

Families, cultures,

grasping relations,

lifestyles, beliefs,

absorbing the vibrations.

This child belonged

in many places,

finding home

in friendly faces.

Able to receive,

welcoming abounds.

Ready to give,

epiphany sounds.
